There is no doubt the Corona Virus offers the biggest challenge to the tourism industry since the tragic 9-11. It’s time for the industry to step back, take stock, and look both short-term and long-term. Right now In the short-term, expect big changes. Large groups and crowding will be discouraged which will reduce consumer's desire to travel. Be sure to: Follow the instructions of the public health community. --Take a close look at every short-term expenditure and reconsider them and your message, and --Resist the temptation to go back to your nearby market Remember, your competitors are likely to make the same moves you are. --Lastly, remember to think beyond the immediate situation. In the future Over the long-term, we still see opportunities. Make no mistake, the industry and how people take trips will change. But remember, throughout history--through wars, recessions, and other challenges--people travel. They travel because it's so deeply ingrained in their being. So, look forward to people traveling again in the future. We are already looking, asking experts, and our friends about what post coronavirus tourism looks like.
