SMG Hotel Business Improvement District (HBID) Prospectus Helps Visitor & Convention Bureaus Create Viable Funding Source

Published On: February 15, 2005
Over the past five years, the State of California has faced significant funding challenges. State politicians have increasingly turned to appropriating local funds as one method of balancing the State budget, which has put increased pressure on local cities and counties, resulting in many regions reducing their tourism funding. As a result, numerous tourism communities are looking to combat this trend and restore a source of funds that cannot be allocated for other purposes. One solution has been the creation of Hotel Business Improvement Districts (HBIDs). These improvement districts have been formed in a number of situations by local lodging operators to specifically fund tourism promotion efforts.

SMG is proud to announce two new services to assist tourism communities in assessing the short and long-term effects of creating a HBID. The SMG HBID Prospectus and SMG Market Forward services are designed to answer the critical question, and "If your community invests in a HBID tourism program what will the Return on Investment be?"
