With summer well underway, we at SMG have been busy with a number of new projects, including SMG Real Estate services. We're also pleased to announce SMG 2.0 services, a program designed to help destinations introduce and incorporate social media tactics into their existing marketing plans.
Every marketer knows that differentiation is critical to
success. For destinations, this
has become increasingly important….and not so easy to achieve. Recent findings from SMG’s California
Traveler have been very telling about the
homogenization of destinations.
In the spirit of starting the New Year, we’re trying out some new programs. I’m pleased to announce the launch of a new monthly marketing podcast. I’ve spent some time learning the technology, and hope to share my insights with you throughout the year.

With summer fast approaching, it’s time to gear up for the travel season and all the great things associated with this season – BBQ, long days, relaxing over a good book, and vacation. Yes, there’s a theme there.
March has certainly arrived with a bang here at Lake Tahoe. Snowstorms this month have kept the ski resorts happy, and should bode well for winter tourism, though some of us are quite ready for golf season to begin.
As January begins, we at SMG have been doing a little
in-house review, assessing programs to determine which succeeded and why.
