Publisher's Note
March has certainly arrived
with a bang here at Lake Tahoe. Snowstorms this month have kept the ski resorts happy, and should bode
well for winter tourism, though some of us are quite ready for golf season to
begin. We here at SMG have been
immersed in numerous varied projects, including tourism feasibility studies, competitive
set analysis, and online surveys as well as developing exciting new research
tools that we'll be unveiling soon.
In this issue, Jenn Gleckman writes
about marketing strategy and podcasting. She also has compiled the first SMG Index, which is our version of the
Harper's Index, tweaked for marketers.
While it is a few months
away, don't forget to mark the SMG Lake Tahoe Tourism Conference on your calendar
for June 1, 2006. As always, we
try to focus on relevant themes and issues. This year's event features topics including culinary
tourism, mountain research trends, and more. For additional information and registration, please visit
our website.
We hope you find these
articles useful and interesting. As always, we appreciate your comments, both
on this newsletter and in general. Feel free to email
me - I'd love to hear from you.
Regards,

Podcasting – Why You Should Care
Podcasting has been around for awhile, and despite being viewed as a young, niche medium right now, it is expected to grow exponentially in the next few years. And because it holds opportunities for marketers – both advertising and broadcasting – it should not be ignored.

SMG Index for March 200
We see an awful lot of relevant and not-so data come across our inboxes here at SMG, and thought it might be useful and interesting to provide them all to you, á la the Harpers Index.
